I cannot stand yellow paint. This looks pretty nice and surprisingly not astronomically expensive thoughts? NPoCP?

I know there is a 911 bubble but damn that seems cheap. I'd say NP but not sure how much you'd spend on a repaint. I'd keep it just how it is

If its original you would have to pay a lot to get a quality job. Best to not paint it. My Z is orange, I was kind of looking for red but I ended up really liking it.

If I bought this, I would not be selling it. The problem of damaged resale value would fall to my progeny. When I died and he chose not to keep something wonderful/horrible/beautiful/difficult such as this car, then much like he/she would have no use or it, i would have no use for them.

the real bubble is for the long nose 911s. pre 75 or so?

the 911's with the crush bumpers are getting there, and prices are going up, but not like the long noses.

that said... this seems like an OK price. i'm sure 5 years ago it wouldve gone for 12k.

also... i'd keep the yellow, agree with the others about cost to repaint and the upside on prices increasing.

Yeah its a dead guy car, this car doesn't change hands unless somebody dies. Seinfeld. Well I would pick a factory color and get it done right, might look at some 911 specialty sellers and see if its just cheaper to get another, however it works out.

All these logical " don't repaint it so you can make some money when you sell it." types in here. There would be no reselling the car, ever.

And this yellow would foul up the entire ownership of the car. If I chose not to repaint it, I would then resell it immediately as it would be too hideous to live with.

instead of paint...why not a wrap?

you get the color you want...the yellow stays and can be re-sold. AND it protects the yellow!

and cheaper then a re-spray to boot

Lol. I would have to avoid all mirror windowed buildings and sit so low in the car that I never saw the paint. And also park in pitch blackness so when I exited the car I could not see the horrible yellow, also by the looks of it this is not the original paintjob.

IT'S NEVER GONNA BE SOLD. This is a dead guy car to me, in fact any purchase of something like this in this day and age of changing fuel platforms, any gas operated vehicle of quality/vintage/exquisite beauty should be kept until the end of days.

if the kids want to sell it. relax.

you have the other advanatges too. cheaper, more or less any color/pattern your want, protects the paint.

and if you get tired of it 5 years down the line, you can change it!

I've been eyeing this for about a week now, and I find the yellow to be terrible. I also hate the fact that it is one of the oldest non-long hoods (and appears to be in too good of condition to backdate). It also has the 2.7l engine (arguably the worst 911 engines) with 160k miles on it.

Despite all this, I still want to sell my daily 335d, start dailying my 996 C2, and buy this for the fun days. It looks like the best value air cooled 911 I've seen in a while, as long as everything checks out in person.

Let me explain how much I loathe yellow paint:

A few years ago I returned from overseas and while bored on a non-duty weekend I decided to go to a toyota dealership and look at the then new FJ Cruisers. Well there was only one manual, 4WD model on the lot and it drew my attention by the sheer value of its parts. Bad news is, it was yellow. That horrible too bright, tweety bird yellow. The salesman scoots along and over to me in his golf cart and says these words, "You like it? Make me an offer." I paused and thought just how much money did I have in my checking account from a years deployment and replied, "I will give you 9k out the door." I expected the guy to laugh in my face and of course say no. I mean this was a year old Toyota with less than 20k miles on it and presumably no wrecks or otherwaise marked titles.

I bullshit you not, he replied, "Let's get inside and do the paperwork." We then proceeded to drum up a buyers order and subsequent paperwork for the freaking "Big-bird mobile" at truly 9 grand. That included North Carolina tags and North Carolina sales tax. The dude was seriously about to sell me a near as makes no difference new, uglier than sin FJ for 9k. I chose to opt out just before I wrote him a check, stating that I just could not get over that awful color (the yellow extended to the interior door panels and such).

Looking back I am glad I did not buy it, and instead bought and spent around 40k on my Disco. (stupid stupid stupid) Which I also chose over an "off-executive lease" 2003 E39 M5.

9 grand?! I would've stepped into my nearly new FJ and laughed all the way back to my driveway, then called the body shop ASAP. Still, no accounting for style, Discoveries rock and I'd imagine anything pre-3 is fairly rare in the US?

In truly good condition, impossible for a reasonable price. I hunted for mine for around 3-4 months and travelled 200+ miles to pick it up, cut the dude a check and took it home without a PPI <——-stupidest idea ever!!!! ACE went out on the highway not even 1000 miles int omy ownership. But I still love the old girl, and due to the ridiculous markup that new dealers are putting on everything from beat up 15 year old hyundai to brand new floor models I passed on buying something new and chose to instead invest further and upgrade more. I just wish I could get a manual transmission, t-case, and diesel TD5 out of a UK D2

I used to hate yellow cars.

But since hating these bland bananas I have found out the trick to yellow is to mix it with other paint colors, primarily black.

Yeah, this one guy I autocross with has a yellow C5 with the same paint scheme minus the stickers and it looks very nice.
